Why we supply the Lead Kits

Tough Touring RPS Units  get their power from your trucks alternator and solar panel -  (DCDC and SOLAR) Connecting wires/cables need to meet and exceed required standards to be able to carry the power loads safely without resistance or heat.

The Victron 50 amp DCDC Charger used in the RPS units can operate at up to 48Amps - This requires a very heavy duty cable to connect the Charger to your Cranking battery over typical distances of 6m. We've found that a 75amp rated cable can  handle the power loads well, with minimal heat or voltage drop.

Likewise, Solar Panels on your Truck can be delivering the majority of your usable power when your parked up - and larger cabling adds to the effectiveness of power delivery to your batteries.

Weve done the leg work for you - our experience in oversizing cabling results in better installations that last a lifetime.

Inverters can peak at Double their actual constant load power outputs for short intervals -  500amps through cabling at peak power intervals is not unusual - So your cabling needs to be large enough to handle this power or it will deteriorate quickly.

Detail on Included Cabling for RPS Units

Tough touring  'RPS' are  essentially self contained 'Plug and Play' Dual battery systems - Your chosen Batteries are Plugged into the back and can be stored remotely (under seats - in cavities) to minimise the footprint of the gear. The RPS system gets its power from your vehicles Alternator and Solar panel.

RPS units come complete with:

3m x 75 amp solar  cabling
6m x 100 amp DC DC cabling
2 x 2m x 50amp Extension leads
2m x 200amp Battery Connect cable

These Leads must be installed through the vehicle for the units to operate.

Customers can opt for "no cabling" inclusions if they carry their own stock of the required cable sizes - Note that cabling installed must meet and exceed International Guage sizes - or  it will affect performance of the RPS.
